This recording is mostly Bill W speaking at the third annual International AA convention held in Long Beach California in 1960, along the way he introduces Lois, Ebby and Sister Ignatia. Each takes the mic for a bit at their introduction, also Bill tells a good bit of his story along with the creation of AA. The overall quality of this recording is excellent it cleaned up really well, there a few audio artifacts but its an easy listen.

Claira S is an 83 year old woman from Los Angeles CA, she is telling her story in August of 2008 at the Dynamics Speaker Group in Anaheim California. I didnt realize it until she started talking about partying with Billy Holiday that I had heard her speak at a roundup years ago, I never forgot her remarkable story, she led quite a life. In 1942, Ed W. began teaching the “Twelve Step Study” classes that helped the Minneapolis Group achieve their 75% recovery rate. Then in 1946, he and Barry C. (The first sober A.A. in the state) published the lectures used for these classes as a book. Initially titled The Twelve Steps, it was affectionately nicknamed “The little red book.”

Back in print for the first time in more than 65 years, the original 1946 edition reveals firsthand how some of A.A.’s earliest members made the program their way of life.
